A legalised translation is a translation whose relevant signature or certification has undergone legalisation for a particular submission. The original document may need separate treatment. Confirm whether your recipient needs translation, legalisation or both.
Do I need an apostille or embassy attestation?

FCDO processing times vary by service and may increase where signatures need verification. Check current FCDO timeframes. Same-day or next-day translation does not mean the legalisation process will finish in that time.
Does the Original or the Translation Need Legalisation?
The recipient may require the original document, its translation or both to be legalised. Send their instructions before ordering. This avoids paying for an apostille on a document or signature that does not meet the requested format.
What is the difference between certified, notarised, sworn, and legalised translation?
A certified translation carries an accuracy statement. Notarisation involves a notarial act, while sworn translation follows the relevant country’s formal requirements. Legalisation authenticates a relevant signature, stamp or seal. These services are distinct and are not interchangeable.
Do I need to send original documents?

Will my legalised translation be accepted by the destination country?
